PRS Guitars FAQs

What does PRS SE stand for?

Student Edition. These guitars were designed for players after the quality PRS offers, but on a budget. You still get awesome features such as bird inlays, top of the line pickups and classic tremolo bridges.

What's the difference between a Custom 22 and a Custom 24?

A Custom 22 has 22 frets, a Custom 24 has 24. Nothing else separates the two in terms of design.

What's the difference between PRS SE and S2?

PRS SE guitars are made in Indonesia, while S2 guitars are made in the PRS American factory in Maryland. You may find S2 models are built using higher-end electronics, woods and hardware than their SE counterparts.

What is the PRS Private Stock?

Private Stock guitars are the pinnacle of the PRS range. These are built by the legendary American custom shop, who employ some of the world's finest guitar luthiers. They feature only the very best in construction quality and features. You'll usually spot one by the incredible figured maple wood top to the guitar body.

What is a PRS McCarty?

McCarty guitars are inspired by vintage specs, unlike much of the PRS range. They were originally conceptualised with Ted McCarty, a legendary guitar designer who's responsible for many crucial guitar innovations. PRS McCarty guitars have a slightly shorter 24.594 scale length, which makes the jump between frets slightly shorter and the tone slightly brighter. They house special-wound Mccarty pickups which deliver a lower output classic tone.
